This session introduces the "walk-through" concept, which will be expanded over four parts. The walk-through principle is about assessing and possibly terminating relationships, behaviors, or patterns in your life using the D.A.R.N. framework: Desire, Ability, Reason, and Need. Imagine you are looking for an apartment or house. You do a walkthrough to see if it meets your needs, understand its costs, and determine its strengths and weaknesses. Similarly, in life, we do walkthroughs when considering new relationships, ideas, or commitments. We must also do walk-throughs when evaluating if something should be maintained or terminated. When terminating a relationship:

  • Desire: Communicate your desire to end or change the

relationship.

  • Ability: Evaluate if you have the ability to sustain the

relationship healthily.

  • Reason: Explain why the relationship needs to change or end.
  • Need: Determine what you require to move forward.

Write down your thoughts and use this process to gain clarity and confidence. Practicing this will prepare you for real-life scenarios. Be honest and gentle with yourself as you explore internal factors and habits that you want to change. Visualizing and meditating on your ability to make changes is crucial. This flowchart guides you step-by-step through evaluating your emotions, relationships, and behaviors. It includes visual checkpoints where you can decide what aspects of your life to keep and what to let go of.

For example, if someone wants to quit smoking, they would ask:

  • What is my desire to stop?
  • What is my ability to quit?
  • What are my reasons for wanting to change?
  • What is my need to make this change?

If these questions aren’t answered clearly, no change will occur. Use the D.A.R.N. principle, combined with the 1-10 scale, to objectively assess your motivation and readiness to change. Visualize Proverbs 23:7: “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” The walk-through helps you identify and terminate non-productive patterns and relationships, bringing you closer to becoming your best self.
